World War II and the Battle of Britain
In History, Year 5 are learning about World War II and the Battle of Britain. The German Air Force (Luftwaffe) tried to gain air superiority over Britain’s Royal Air Force (RAF) but Britain won. The German planes of the Luftwaffe were good, but they could not beat Britain’s planes. Our battle was a little different and both teams won at some point! I think the children have been practicing!
Order in the Court!
Year 5 debated who is the most guilty for the tragedies in Macbeth - Lady Macbeth, Macbeth or the Witches? The children were compelling in their arguments and ruthless in their counter arguments. We have some budding barristers and punchy politicians amongst us! Judge Edebiri has been deliberating hard on the outcome...
For Health and Wellbeing week, Year 5 enjoyed a range of activities. We had a Q&A with a dentist, we wrote a recipe for a healthy life, we walked in Ravenscourt Park with our buddies, We created a whole school artwork, we kept a gratitude journal and made thoughtful cards for our buddies. We made a healthy fruity dessert (and ate it!) and checked our pulse rate before and after exercise with Year 6. We finished our art unit with emotional self portraits inspired by Frida Kahlo. Every morning we completed a ‘Wakey Shakey’ session in the playground, we have done some meditation and we competed in the JB Sports Day. We debated on Healthy Eating and Mental Health and learnt how to communicate without sound, using sign language. We developed our own smoothie and took part in Zumba. What a week!
