Communication

Communication between staff and parents

At John Betts we are only too aware of the importance of good communication and understand how frustrating it can be if information gets lost. However, in order to safeguard our returning children and staff, at this time we will not be allowing any parents, carers or visitors into the school building. We ask that parents and carers continue to communicate with the school via the remoteaccess@, and office@ e-mail addresses, as you have been doing over lockdown time. Thanks a lot for your understanding.

The class teacher will respond to this at the soonest possible opportunity and, if necessary, arrange a meeting with you.

Please note that it is not appropriate to email your class teacher directly with issues regarding your child. Emails need to be sent via the office and will be directed to the appropriate member/s of staff. These emails are shared with a member of SLT so that, if any necessary support is required, they are able to do this.

Likewise, if you wish to communicate with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Head of Inclusion, emails need to be directed via the office. If you request a meeting with the Headteacher, you need to provide some information about the purpose of the meeting, because it may be more appropriate for you to meet with another member of SLT. All meetings held with parents are discussed with the Senior Leadership Team and, if further action is necessary, it will be arranged.

Parent reps have access to the class teacher’s email and this is to be used only to make arrangements regarding reading volunteers, trips or events relating to fundraising. Parent reps are expected to follow whole school procedures if they wish to discuss their child with the class teacher.

This system will ensure smooth communication across the school and will prevent any misunderstandings from taking place. If you have not received a response, please check with SLT on the gate either at the beginning of the end of the day so they can follow up on this.
