Benvenuti in Italia!
We are extremely excited to be teaching Italian throughout the years at John Betts School. We follow the Language Angels scheme. Not only do our children learn basic conversation, they learn key skills such as vocabulary relating to real-life situations, links between other languages spoken at the school, pronunciation and grammar and about the wonderful Italian culture from which we all benefit!
Italian is taught firstly though vibrant and engaging conversation, role-play, puppet shows and games, furthered in Key Stage Two, by the construction of writing. In addition, we weave Italian through the wider curriculum, forging links with science and humanities as well as food technology and music. Each year we bring our Italian efforts together for an all-immersive Italian Day, where the children experience all manner of Italian delights from making tiramisù to live opera!
