Welcome to Year 2!
Year 2 is an exciting year with lots of challenges for the children.
In Year 2 we are starting to become more independent learners; continuing to develop our skills in reading, writing and maths through collaboration and discussion. As Year 2 progresses, we work towards preparing ourselves to showcase our very best in our end-of-year national SATs tests. We use a topic-based approach to learning; this allows us to become immersed in our learning through visits to some of the amazing historical, scientific and artistic surrounding our local area.
We gain a greater understanding of a range of Mathematical concepts through the use of WAGOLLs (What a good one looks like) and problem solving. We consolidate our knowledge of phonics and continue to apply these skills across our reading and writing. These vital skills prepare us for the challenges of Year 3 and help ensure a smooth transition to continue our learning journey.
