RE

Religious Education helps children to make sense of the world around them and the diverse beliefs, values and traditions within it. At John Betts, we believe that thoughtful enquiry and open discussion are central to meaningful RE, encouraging curiosity, respect and reflection. Our RE topics begin by valuing children’s own beliefs and ideas, before encouraging them to ask questions and explore religious and non-religious worldviews through enquiry and investigation. Learning is enriched through a wide range of sources, including stories, religious texts, images, artefacts and lived experiences. Pupils are supported to compare ideas and critically evaluate different viewpoints, before bringing their learning back to themselves through personal reflection. Through this approach, children develop empathy, self-awareness and the confidence to express their own beliefs respectfully, helping them to become thoughtful, reflective and informed members of a diverse society.

Parents can ask to withdraw their child from parts or all of the R.E. lessons.  Please contact the school office for further information.
